Sella Ronda

The skiing

Sella Ronda is a 500km interconnected circuit spanning the Dolomites, so you're not lapping a single mountain for four months. The terrain suits intermediates and advanced skiers best; expect groomed pistes with genuine pitch and technical sections rather than beginner-friendly cruising. Snowfall averages 216cm annually, which keeps conditions reliable through a full season. The signature experience here is the Sella Ronda lap itself, a full-day circuit that lets you ski four valleys in one go. Most seasonaires break it into sections rather than attempt it daily.

The towns

Alta Badia is the quietest option (nightlife 4.5/10) and the cheapest to live in (EUR 1200/month salary, EUR 5.50 beer). It's a good fit if you want to keep costs down and don't mind a subdued après-ski scene. The terrain is modest by Sella Ronda standards, so you'll feel the repetition if you're an advanced skier; intermediates will find enough to stay engaged.

Getting around

The nearest major airport is Innsbruck (Austria), roughly 150km away. Venice is about 250km south if you need a proper city for resupply or a break. Most seasonaires fly into Innsbruck or Venice and rent a car or take a bus to the Sella Ronda villages; the area itself is car-light once you're based in a town, since the lift pass connects everything.
