Most accessible slackcountry from the lifts — for skiers who tour and sidecountry ski
Ranked on a blend rather than a single rating: lift-accessible backcountry (55%), gnarliness (20%), snowfall (15%) and vertical drop (10%). Backcountry without snow is hiking, and terrain that rewards leaving the piste matters as much as the access itself.
A Connected Ski Area (several towns on one lift network, like Trois Vallées or Portes du Soleil) counts as a single entry here — not once per town — since they all share the same terrain, season, snow and vertical. Click through to explore its individual towns.
