Boyne Highlands is a genuinely large resort by Midwest standards, with 435 acres and 8 lifts near Harbor Springs, Michigan, on the Epic Pass network. Vertical drop is modest (around 550ft) compared to a Rockies or Alps destination, but for a Midwest season it's one of the bigger, more varied hills around, with real terrain-park investment and consistent grooming.
Living here means small-town northern Michigan rather than a resort village. Harbor Springs and nearby Petoskey have real grocery stores and everyday amenities, but nothing resembling a big ski-town nightlife scene. Cost of living is low relative to a major destination resort, which offsets the smaller-mountain terrain for staff prioritizing savings over terrain variety.
Most seasonaires here are drawn by the Epic Pass access and a close-knit local staff community rather than the mountain itself. Jobs lean toward lift ops, ski school and hospitality; it works well as a first season or for building experience close to Chicago and Milwaukee, and less well as a destination season for someone chasing big terrain.
