Serre Chevalier Vallée

The skiing

Serre Chevalier spreads across 250km of skiable terrain split between four lift-connected villages, giving you genuine variety without the sprawl of a mega-resort. The terrain leans intermediate-friendly: expect well-groomed cruising runs, accessible tree skiing in the lower sectors, and enough pitch variation to keep a solid skier engaged through a full season. The 1600m vertical drop and 134-day season are respectable for the French Alps, though not exceptional; this is a place to develop technique and log days rather than hunt steep couloirs or endless powder stashes. The area doesn't have a single iconic run that defines it, but the tree skiing and rolling terrain lower down are genuinely good, and the lift network means you can move between villages without repeating yourself too quickly.

The towns

Which town should you pick
